Head of the Ashby
A cooler run today to the end of the Ashby. We had last visited here 6 years ago and found that the basin at the terminus had been extended and the turning place made larger.
Basin today (see bridge over extension)Just before the end is Snarestone tunnel which our guide book describes as `dank` but I found it quite innocuous...admittedly it is not very long and despite a slight kink in the middle you can see the other end when you enter. I even managed to stay up top.....normally Barney and I go below and pretend we are somewhere else.....
The May trees are shedding their flowers and Petroc looked as though she had been to a wedding.6.78miles, 0 locks, 2hrs 48 min
