Onward towards Devizes.

Set off this am with no fixed plan in mind. We watered etc at the top of Bradford lock, and then stopped at Bradford Marina to top up with diesel (92p). Despite the forecast of showers we had a pleasant run in a fair amount of sunshine. I had my morning walk from Hilperton Road Bridge to the first of the Semington Locks, about 2.5 miles, so felt very virtuous. Geoff walked the next stretch as there are 3 swing bridges and we then started up the Seend locks. As we approached the second lock a boat ahead of us entered the lock so we thought our luck was in and we could share the next few locks.........no such luck.......the gate shut and they went up!!! Geoff was philosophical......
When we went through the lock we were at the Barge Inn and there was space to moor so we decided to quit for the day. We nipped across for a quick beer before lunch. We took a look at the menu and we were sad that we had too much food on board to justify having a meal there. Both the lunch time and evening menu looked good and the pub seemed very nice. We were chased back by the appearance of some very dark clouds/ Managed to make it back to Petroc before the rain hit...thereafter it was on and off rain & sunshine. fair picture on the TV but an excellent picture on my computer TV so have settled down for some tennis.
