Head of the Ashby

A cooler run today to the end of the Ashby.  We had last visited here 6 years ago and found that the basin at the terminus had been extended and the turning place made larger.

Just before the end is Snarestone tunnel which our guide book describes as `dank` but I found it quite innocuous...admittedly it is not very long and despite a slight kink in the middle you can see the other end when you enter.  I even managed to stay up top.....normally Barney and I go below and pretend we are somewhere else.....
Good moorings just back a little which we moved to after using the sani station.   There are plenty of watering places on the way up but this is the only place for loo emptying and rubbish.

Decided to stay over an extra day and explore part of the disused section.  We walked up to the Globe pub in the evening.  We have been told they do very good food so have booked for the Friday evening.

The May trees are shedding their flowers and Petroc looked as though she had been to a wedding.
