Facing reality-PETROC will have to be sold.

We knew we were on borrowed time. Our bi-yearly cruising was a 5 year plan and we have had 15. We have been over the whole of the connected canal system with the exception of the middle levels. She is our second home and has served us wonderfully.it is going to be so sad to leave her, but realistically Geoff is not coming back on board. His recovery is going to be a slow process. It is a way of life that will be difficult to leave. So if anyone out there as looking for a comfortable live aboard that is in good condition please do get in touch

Oh dear. Inevitable but so sad for you both - but, as you said… 15 years of a 5 year plan… not a bad run!
So - how is it going? Geoffrey sounds as if he’s improving, albeit so very slowly!
Take care - much love to you all…

So sorry to hear that you have had to come to that conclusion. If must be so sad on top of all else that you are having to cope with. I guess there must be many of us who have that point at the back of our minds, especially on days when the creaking of joints is noisier than usual. Will be thinking of you and do keep us all posted on how things pan out for you both.

Oh Gill, I know how heartbroken you must be. And how the grieving process will continue even when the narrowboat you loved into birth (berth?) has been sold. But the memories of all the places you have been together will linger for longer than you can imagine. They can be a joy or a regret. I can't say, 'you choose' because I don't think it's easy to do so. But they are gifts to be thankful for. I pray both you and Geoff will be able to sail together again on those memories. And thank God you have the loving support of your wonderful children to lean on. I'll miss your blogs, as will so many. Thanks for them all. John
