Weekend in Tewkesbury

The far end of the Avon at Tewkesbury
This is the Avon lock which is the start of our (we hope) gentle amble up the river Avon.
After supper (and my bath!)on Thursday with Geoff & Gill we had a quiet day on Friday, rediscovering Tewkesbury which is such a delightful pace and of course steeped in history.  In the evening we met Geoff & Gill at the Fish & Chip shop and took it back to Petroc.
On Saturday Ivan & Mary came to visit arriving in time for late coffee.  The weather had been a bit iffy and definitely chilly, but it appeared to be perking up by lunchtime so we decided to head out by car to Bredon.  This is where Geoff & Gill live and they had their annual boat races and fete in aid of the church.  They are also old friends of Mary & Ivan so we though it would be a good get together. We had a good snack lunch in the Fox & Hounds in Bredon first and then wandered down to the rectory field by the iverside where the fete was.  A certain amount of reminiscing took place between everyone!

On Sunday we went to the Sung Eucharist at Tewkesbury Abbey which was wonderful....all smells & bells...right up our street!!!  A very gentle afternoon followed after all our socialising.  It was also a light eating day...one of of our 2 days in our 5/2 diet which we are trying to do but not with any great success at the moment.

We were fortunate that the lock keeper let us stay for the extra days.
It wasn't the ideal spot as we lost the sun quite early
If you look closely we are the last boat just before the bridge by the steps
So onward tomorrow up the Avon
